Both actors had once opened up about this kiss scene, with Lee Min Ho feeling sorry and regretting it, while Park Shin Hye said she was surprised.
Originally, their script didn’t include a kiss in an intimate scene, but the directors decided to spice things up. Lee Min Ho went with the flow, but Park Shin Hye wasn’t ready for it.
In an interview with Daily Sports in 2013, translated by Soompi, Lee Min Ho shared, “Since the kiss was the culmination of all the events and emotions leading up to it, there was no other alternative than to do it for real. I felt sorry that Park Shin Hye wasn’t told beforehand.” He noted that actresses are usually given a heads-up, so he understood why she was caught off-guard.
Park Shin Hye also talked about the scene at a press conference. She said, “I was really surprised. While we were shooting the scene, I grabbed Lee Min Ho’s clothes because I was so shocked. You can see it in the shot, too. The director suddenly said, ‘This time, you’re going to really kiss,’ and I was just standing there in a daze. When Lee Min Ho grabbed my chin and pulled me in, it really surprised me.” Despite the unexpected moment, the scene was a success and approved in just one take!
