After a long time, I’m back with predictions for an ongoing drama!
The current trending drama is When The Phone Rings, and I’m loving every moment of it. Spoiler Alert! If you haven’t watched this drama and plan to, please skip this post, as it contains spoilers that could ruin your experience of this wonderful show. So far the drama has released till episode 6. The drama has yet to air 6 more episodes, so in total it is going to have 12 episodes.
It’s a romance thriller about a married couple, Baek Sa Eon and Hee Joo, who are in an arranged marriage. They face challenges when the wife is kidnapped. Hee Joo has selective mutism, but she’s only pretending and isn’t truly suffering from it. After escaping from the kidnapper, she takes his phone and starts threatening her husband to divorce her.
Table of Contents
1. The Kidnapper is The Real Son of Baek Sa Eon’s Mom
In episode 5, there is a flashback scene where Baek Sa Eon’s mother asks the young Baek Sa Eon to eat the seafood offered at a party, mentioning that her son likes seafood. This scene reveals that Baek Sa Eon is not the biological child of the family. We also see the kidnapper cutting fish while on a call, which hints at his involvement. Additionally, the kidnapper seems to exhibit psychopathic tendencies, further suggesting he might be their real son. This theory is reinforced by the fact that Sang-Woo Hee Joo’s childhood friend once encountered a boy with similar psychopathic traits. That boy could be the kidnapper, especially since, when Baek Sa Eon’s mother thinks about her real son, we see the same house where Sang-Woo met the strange boy. Ultimately, this connection could explain the kidnapper’s desire to destroy Baek Sa Eon.
2. Baek Sa Eon’s Assistant is Working With The Kidnapper
After the final scene of Episode 6, everyone suspected that Park Do-Jae, Baek Sa Eon’s assistant, pushed Hee Joo off the cliff, as he was the only one near her when the crowd surrounded Baek Sa Eon and was wearing a black t-shirt. In my opinion, this theory could be true. Park Do-Jae certainly appears suspicious, as he always maintains a poker face. My suspicion grew even more after the explosion scene at the office, where the team was analyzing and tracking the threatening calls made to Baek Sa Eon. The location was secret, so it’s clear that someone from the team must have informed the kidnapper about it. Once again, Park Do-Jae could be the one who leaked the information, as they might be working together.
3. Ji Sang Woo and Na You-Ri will Fall In Love With Each Other
Well, their first interaction with each other says it all. Just look at the picture. They’ve only just started working together and are currently investigating the case of missing children from the orphanage. The stage is set for them, and they’re highly likely to fall in love soon.
4. Who is The Real Planner?
This one is tricky—who is the bigger person behind all of this? We know the kidnapper is taking orders from someone, but the big question is: who could it be? I have two suspects: Hee Joo’s stepfather and Hee Joo’s stepsister. There are two things I’ve noticed that might connect the dots. First, the kidnapper isn’t just taking orders—he also seems to have a personal grudge against Baek Sa Eon. This suggests that the kidnapper and the person he’s taking orders from might be well acquainted. Second, whoever is behind this doesn’t seem to care about Hee Joo, especially since they tried to kill her. I suspect Hee Joo’s stepfather because he might dislike Baek Sa Eon and want the kidnapper to take his place (if the kidnapper is the real son). I know it’s an unusual theory, but I have a hunch he could be the one. The other possibility is Hee Joo’s stepsister, who might be acting out of jealousy.
5. Baek Sa Eon and Hee Joo will Remarry and Live Happily ever After
After all the torment of witnessing the contract marriage between the two, especially when they secretly love each other, a remarriage is a must once everything is sorted out. Moreover, pictures of their marriage, showing both looking happy, are already circulating on the internet (they might be edited, but they look real). Let’s hope for a happily ever after for the two of them, because they truly deserve it.
6. Who Are the 4 Missing Children?
I suspect that one of them could be Baek Sa Eon, as he is not their real son and it’s likely he was adopted and wanted it to remain a secret. Secondly, it could be Baek Sa Eon’s assistant. If the second theory is correct, he might hold a grudge against Baek Sa Eon due to some incident at the orphanage. As for the other two, I have no idea. I guess we’ll be introduced to them in the coming episodes, and it’s really going to be interesting.
7. Hee Joo Will Reveal Her Secret and Become an Announcer
We see Baek Sa Eon, the ultra-caring husband, immediately encourage Hee Joo to speak up once he learns that she is acting mute due to her family. Now that she is with him, it’s highly likely that after the major incident, and when Hee Joo finally finds the courage to reveal her secret to him, Baek Sa Eon will want her to stop acting mute and, later, help her fulfill her dream of becoming an announcer.
So, what do think about this? And so you have your own predictions? Would love to discuss it in comments. 😊
