“Pachinko Season 2” trailer is here and it looks even better than season 1!
The trailer shows Lee Min Ho returning to Kim Min Ha after 14 years, warning her of a dangerous war ahead. It also features the older Sunja (played by Youn Yuh Jung) and depicts the struggles of her grandson Solomon (played by Jin Ha) in Tokyo in 1989. Here is the trailer:
“Pachinko Season 1” told the story of a Korean family who moves to Japan during the times when it wasn’t easy for Koreans to live in Japan, as they faced discrimination. It was a time when the only employment for many Koreans living in Japan was in the “Pachinko parlors”. The main story is focused on Sunja who is a Korean woman from Yeongdo Gu, Busan, South Korea, fights for a better life in a Korea dominated by the Japanese. She gets involved with Kon Hansu who is a rich and powerful merchant in Japan.
Season 2 will continue to tell the story of the Korean immigrant family across four generations, through Sunja, spanning from the Japanese colonial period to the 1980s. Sunja’s becomes the sole breadwinner of her family during World War 2. The season will also explore the brotherhood between Sunja’s sons and the struggles of Solomon, who starts with nothing in Tokyo in 1989.
Based on the New York Times bestselling novel “Pachinko” season 2 stars Lee Min Ho, Youn Yuh Jung, Kim Minha and Jin Ha in the main cast. It is expected to have a total of 8 episodes. It will release on 23 August only on Apple TV+.
