Synopsis
“Captivating The King” Korean drama tells the story about King Lee In (Jo Jung Suk), who is in a tough spot because of problems with power and fighting among royals and politicians. He can hardly trust anyone. Then there is Kang Hee Soo (Shin Se Kyung), who starts out trying to use her charm to get revenge from the King but ends up falling for him.
Lee In is a king who is really strong but also kind of sad. He used to be a hostage in the Qing Dynasty and promised to be loyal to his older brother, Lee Seon (Choi Dae Hoon). But things went wrong, and even his brother turned against him. In the midst of his pain, he meets a mysterious baduk player who steals his heart.
Kang Hee Soo, a woman with a grudge trying to get back at the king. She is known as an ‘unknown baduk player.’ When she meets Prince Lee In, she falls in love with him instead and gets caught up in a twist of fate, turning into Sejak.
Kim Myung Ha (Lee Shin Young), the son of Kim Jong Bae, a military boss keeping an eye on King Lee In. He is a good-looking guy who knows a lot about books, archery, and sword fighting. Even with all his skills, he is heartbroken because Kang Hee Soo, the girl he likes, doesn’t feel the same way. This leads him to make some tough decisions.
Meanwhile, Court Lady Dong (Park Ye Young) is someone important in a secret palace. She works for two kings and has a lot of power in the palace, so much that people think she’s more important than the royal palace. She’s been wanting King Lee In’s love for a long time, adding a sense of longing and secrecy to the story in the palace.
