Jo Jung Seok (Hospital Playlist Season 2), Shin Se Kyung (Arthdal Chronicles: The Sword of Aramun), Lee Shin Young (CEO-dol Mart), and Park Ye Young (Anna) are confirmed for upcoming tvN historical Korean drama “Captivating The King” (also known as “Sejak, The Bewitched”).
“Captivating The King” will tell the story about King Lee In, who is in a tough spot because of problems with power and fighting among royals and politicians. He can hardly trust anyone. Then there is Kang Hee Soo, who starts out trying to use her charm to get revenge from the King but ends up falling for him.
Jo Jung Seok is playing Lee In, a king who is really strong but also kind of sad. He used to be a hostage in the Qing Dynasty and promised to be loyal to his older brother, Lee Seon. But things went wrong, and even his brother turned against him. In the midst of his pain, he meets a mysterious baduk player who steals his heart.
Shin Se Kyung is portraying Kang Hee Soo, a woman with a grudge trying to get back at the king. She is known as an ‘unknown baduk player.’ When she meets Prince Lee In, she falls in love with him instead and gets caught up in a twist of fate, turning into Sejak.
Lee Shin Young is confirmed to take the role of Kim Myeong Ha, the son of Kim Jong Bae, a military boss keeping an eye on King Lee In. He is a good-looking guy who knows a lot about books, archery, and sword fighting. Even with all his skills, he is heartbroken because Kang Hee Soo, the person he likes, doesn’t feel the same way. This leads him to make some tough decisions.
Park Ye Young is playing ‘Dong Sang Gung,’ someone important in a secret palace. She works for two kings and has a lot of power in the palace, so much that people think she’s more important than the royal palace. She’s been wanting King Lee In’s love for a long time, adding a sense of longing and secrecy to the story in the palace.
“Captivating the King” which comes from the writer of drama “The Crowned Clown” will release Episodes 1 and 2 consecutively on January 21.
