We will soon see Nam Joo Hyuk (Twenty-Five Twenty-One) in a new drama in 2023.
Despite the actor’s ongoing military service, Nam Joo Hyuk completed filming for the Disney+ drama “Vigilante” before his official enlistment on March 20. He is anticipated to be discharged on September 19, 2024.
The drama is based on a webtoon of the same name. Along with Nam Joo Hyuk, actor Yoo Ji Tae (Money Heist 2), Lee Joon Hyuk (Dark Hole), and actress Kim So Jin (Through the Darkness) will also be leading the upcoming Disney+ thriller series.
“Vigilante” will narrate the tale of Kim Ji Yong (Nam Joo Hyuk), a college police student. In his childhood, his mother fell victim to a gangster’s brutal murder. As Kim Yong grows up, he discovers that the gangster responsible for his mother’s death served only three years in jail for the heinous crime and is now free. This revelation compels him to adopt the role of a Vigilante (a person who tries in an unofficial way to prevent crime), taking it upon himself to deliver justice to criminals whom the law has failed to punish adequately.
Soon, he becomes a famous dark hero named ‘Vigilante.’ Jo Kang Ok (Lee Joon Hyuk), who really likes Vigilante, decides to help him. Also, a police leader Jo Heon (Yoo Ji Tae) starts trying to catch ‘Vigilante.’
According to the Webtoon the story tagline goes like this: “The law has a loophole. I fill that hole. Blame the law for letting you go.”
In the first image from “Vigilante” unveiled by Disney+, Nam Joo Hyuk is dressed in a police uniform, standing inside a college. However, his expressions seem rather suspicious, as if he’s contemplating his next steps as a vigilante. This role is quite distinct from what we typically see Nam Joo Hyuk in, and I’m really curious to watch him in this new role.
“Vigilante” is looking to air sometimes this November with a total of 8 episodes.
