Any movie or drama would feel emotionless without a beautiful OST playing in the background, especially when it comes to Korean dramas. Without OSTs, viewers might struggle to connect with the characters’ emotions.
While every drama has its own beautiful OSTs, some are so exceptional that everyone should listen to them. Here, I’m going to suggest the my favourite drama OSTs ever that you’ll find hard to forget. (music video links given)
1. A Little Braver (Uncontrollably Fond)
The drama “UNCONTROLLABLY FOND” is the most beautiful tragedy in the history of Kdrama, making everyone burst into tears. It tells the story of two former lovers who reunite, navigating their complex emotions and past regrets while one of them facing a terminal illness. One thing I learned from this drama is that death can also be beautiful, yet profoundly painful. I can’t escape the grip of this drama, even long after watching it. Its OST, “A Little Braver,” sung by New Empire, is already woven into my soul and will accompany me to my grave.
2. For You (Moon Lovers)
The drama “MOON LOVERS” is a really sad Kdrama that mixes in some laughs but ultimately leaves you feeling pretty down. The story is about a modern woman who goes back in time to the Goryeo Dynasty and gets involved with the princes and their political struggles. One of the best things about the drama is the beautiful OST, especially the song “For You” sung by EXO’s Chen, Baekhyun, and Xiumin. Interestingly, I ended up deciding to watch the drama after seeing the music video for this song.
3. Let Me Out (Hwayugi)
“HWAYUGI” took me by surprise as the concept was completely beyond my imagination. I never thought such a drama could exist. Hats off to everyone involved in making this drama! It tells the story of a mischievous Monkey King who is trapped and must assist a young woman in vanquishing evil spirits. The drama follows their adventures, blending fantasy, romance, and humor. I also adore the OST, especially the song “Let Me Out” sung by NU’EST W.
4. Can You Hear My Love (Moon Lovers)
“Can You Hear My Love,” an addictive earworm melody sung by Epic High and Lee Hi, features in the drama “Moon Lovers.” It captivates despite its tense vibes due to its strong connection with the strained relationship between Wang So and Hae Soo in the drama.
5. Stay With Me (Goblin)
One of the best supernatural dramas is “GOBLIN,” featuring a commendable cast and engaging plot. It tells the story of a goblin cursed with immortality and his quest to find a human bride who can end his life. Alongside him is the grim reaper, and together they navigate love, fate, and their intertwined pasts. A seamless blend of various genres, this drama transports your imagination to new heights. Its OST is equally remarkable, especially ‘Stay with me,’ sung by Chanyeol (EXO) and Punch, a song that has become a favorite for many.
6. Every Time (Descendants of the Sun)
Sung by Chen of EXO and Punch, although I don’t understand the language, one thing I can say for sure is that this OST perfectly matches the chemistry of the SongSong couple in the drama “DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN.” The drama follows the romantic journey of a soldier and a doctor as they navigate challenges and dangers in a war-torn country, ultimately finding love and healing in each other’s arms.
7. In The Illusion (W)
Sung by Basick and INKY, ‘In the Illusion’ OST comes from the drama “W-TWO WORLDS” and is the first OST ever that made me lose my mind. As the drama was a thriller, this OST gives you tense and cold vibes. I remember watching this drama during my exams, and its music got stuck in my mind. I found it hard to get it out of my head even for a single second. “W-TWO WORLDS” tells the story of a woman who gets entangled in the world of a webtoon created by her father and begins to interact with its characters, blurring the lines between reality and fiction.
8. Beautiful (Goblin)
This sweet and calm melody comes from drama GOBLIN sung by Crush. This ost is really beautiful one, just like its title.
9. Someday (The Smile Has Left Your Eyes)
‘Someday’ is a very sad and romantic melody from the drama “THE SMILE HAS LEFT YOUR EYES,” sung by Lee Seung Yeol. Unfortunately, this drama also has a heart-wrenching ending which makes you even more obsessed with the OST. The drama revolves around their complex relationship, leading to a tragic conclusion.
10. When I Saw You (Hwayugi)
Sung by Bumkey, this ost is best suited with chemistry of Son Oh Gong (Lee Seung Gi) and Jin Seon Mi (Oh Yeon-Seo). HWAYUGI is one of those dramas where every single character is very well interpreted and amazingly charismatic.
11. Say Goodbye (Uncontrollably Fond)
Anyone can forget happy ending but when it comes to sad ending who can forget? Obviously no one. The drama UNCONTROLLABLY FOND left everyone with tears in eyes and it’s ost ‘Say goodbye’ is sad melody Sung by Kim Na Young that viewers will find well connected with main lead’s journey of hardship.
12. So Give Me A Smile (Heartstrings)
“HEARTSTRINGS” is one of the best dramas featuring Park Shin Hye, focusing on music. One of its OSTs, ‘So Give Me A Smile,’ sung by M Signal, lives up to its title by bringing a beautiful smile to your face. The drama revolves around the lives of music students, their aspirations, and the emotions they experience.
13. Auditory Hallucination (Kill Me, Heal Me)
“KILL ME HEAL ME” is a remarkable romantic comedy drama with intricate layers. ‘Auditory Hallucination,’ my favorite OST from this drama, sung by Jang Jae-In feat. NaShow, perfectly captures the intertwined lives of Cha Do Hyun (Ji Sung) and Oh Ri-Jin (Hwang Jung Eum), revealing their painful childhood experiences and complex emotions.
14. Who are you (Goblin)
Sung by Sam Kim this ost is well matched with the life and death theme of drama GOBLIN Where the main lead couple Kim Shin (Gong yoo) and Ji Eun Tak(Kim Go Eun) were going through the life and death situation.
15. Reset (School 2015)
‘Reset’ is inspiring ost from drama School 2015 sung by Tiger JK. This drama is based on the high school life where the main character Lee Eun-Bi (Kim So Hyun) suffering from school bullying, tried to end her life but was saved by her twin sister Go Eun-Byul and later she learned about her birth secret.
16. This Love (Descendants of the Sun)
This sad melody is from the drama “DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN,” sung by Davichi, and will surely resonate with your feelings when you’re sad or heartbroken.
17. Once Again (Descendants of the Sun)
This OST is from the drama “DESCENDANTS OF THE SUN,” sung by Mad Clown and Kim Na Young. The lyrics of this OST are so heart-touching and mesmerizing that you’ll find yourself wanting to listen to it again and again.
18. You’ve Fallen For Me (Heartstrings)
‘You’ve Fallen for Me’ is an incredibly joyful and exciting melody from the drama “Heartstrings,” starring Park Shin Hye and Jung Yong-Hwa. This OST is also sung by Jung Yong-Hwa (CNBLUE). I’m recommending this OST because whenever I listen to it, I feel like it’s flirting with me… LOL.
19. Suddenly (City Hunter)
With an easy-to-connect plot, the drama “CITY HUNTER” is considered an “old but gold” classic, and its OST is also good. The drama revolves around Lee Yoon-sung (played by Lee Min-ho), who seeks justice for his father’s death and works as a vigilante, all while balancing love and danger. However, I like this one the most because it fills me with delight and cheers me up every time I listen to it. This OST is sung by Kim Bo-Kyung.
20. Eternal love (Healer)
The gentle chemistry between Ji Chang Wook and Park Min Young in the drama “HEALER” was enjoyed by everyone. It’s story follows a skilled night courier who becomes a reporter’s assistant, uncovering mysteries and finding love along the way. The OST ‘Eternal Love,’ sung by Michael Learns To Rock, is so lovely that I would like to recommend it to everyone who hasn’t listened to it yet.
