The wait is almost over because the much-anticipated Korean drama “Doctor Slump” is about to be released in a few days.
Ahead of the release, Netflix has unveiled an approximate 5-minute-long preview trailer, preparing us for the cute love story of Park Shin Hye and Park Hyung Sik that we will soon get to see.
The preview unfolds in three poignant phases of Park Shin Hye and Park Hyung Sik’s lives. Initially, during their high school years, they emerge as rivals, both reigning as top students in their class. Transitioning to their professional lives, Park Hyung Sik excels as a successful doctor, while Park Shin Hye embarks on a journey to become a professor. However, their paths take unexpected turns; Park Shin Hye grapples with depression due to work overload, and Park Hyung Sik faces professional challenges after the tragic loss of a patient.
The narrative shifts to the third phase of their lives when they serendipitously reunite on the rooftop of the same house. Both navigating a slump, they rediscover solace in their renewed friendship. As they support each other through challenging times, a subtle transformation occurs, and their connection deepens. The trailer ends with both questioning the new feelings that are emerging in their hearts for each other.
This preview gives a strong indication that the drama will be a compelling romantic comedy, showcasing the adorable chemistry between Park Shin Hye and Park Hyung Sik.
Kdrama “Doctor Slump” will tell the story of romance and personal growth centered around two accomplished doctors who, despite their excellence in their field, find themselves in a slump leading to them quitting their jobs. Nam Ha Neul (Park Shin Hye) and Yeo Jung Woo (Park Hyung Sik), former high-school top students and once sworn enemies, now face challenges in their professional lives.
Nam Ha Neul, now an anesthesiologist, experiences burnout caused by mistreatment from a medical professor, compelling her to resign. On the other hand, Yeo Jung Woo, a skilled plastic surgeon, faces legal repercussions and leaves his job after a medical incident. Fate brings them together as neighbors in a rooftop house, where they discover solace and support in each other. As they navigate their respective slumps, a budding romance unfolds, and they find healing in one another’s company.
“Doctor Slump,” originating from the PD and writer of hit dramas such as “Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo” and “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim,” also features Yoon Park (Delightfully Deceitful) and Kong Seong Ha (Daily Dose of Sunshine).
The drama is set to release on January 27th at 10:30 p.m. KST on jTBC and the streaming platform Netflix.
