Rowoon and Cho Yi Hyun are showcasing their characters as the top matchmakers in an exciting trailer for the upcoming romance historical Korean drama “The Matchmakers” (or “The Wedding Battle”).
The trailer starts with Rowoon mentioning that he has been writing marriage-related appeals for 8 years. Cho Yi Hyun follows, introducing herself as the matchmaking goddess, Jung Soon Deok. They proceed to further highlight their characters, with Rowoon stating there’s no marriage example he isn’t familiar with, while Cho Yi Hyun assures her success rate in matchmaking.
The trailer then continues with amusing interactions between Rowoon and Cho Yi Hyun, depicting conflicts in their partnership as matchmakers.
“The Matchmakers” will tell the story of Shim Jung Woo (Rowoon) who becomes an unfortunate man in Joseon after the princess he was marrying suddenly dies on the wedding day. According to the Joseon customs, despite being the youngest to place first in the state examination, he can’t take the government post and also remarry. His life changes when he meets a girl living double life, Jung Soon Deok (Cho Yi Hyun).
Jung Soo Deok is also a widow who is living a secret life as Mrs. Yeo Joo, the best matchmaker in Hanyang City and secondly as the best bangmul seller in Hanyang. Together with Shim Jung Woo she takes the challenge of marrying off the four young maidens who represent Joseon and also older unmarried women and men.
Kdrama “The Matchmakers” is set to release on October 30 at 9:45 p.m. KST on KBS2 and streaming platform Viki.
