We have new sweet rom-com coming our way. “Dare To Love Me” is an upcoming KBS2 Korean drama starring Kim Myung Soo and Lee Yoo Young in the main cast.
Recently, global streaming platform Netflix unveiled a beautiful first trailer of the drama, giving us a glimpse of the sweet romance between the two main leads.
The trailer begins by portraying the harsh life of Lee Yoo Young and features an action sequence with Kim Myung Soo fighting men while dressed in historical attire. It then depicts the first meeting between Kim Myung Soo and Lee Yoo Young, where he catches her in his arms. The trailer emphasizes the theme of fate reuniting a master and pupil, including a flashback scene where Kim Myung Soo is instructed to catch phony and return safely.
The final scene showcases Lee Yoo Young discarding Kim Myung Soo’s umbrella because she enjoys the rain, with Kim Myung Soo saying he loves it more. (to protect her from rain?). The trailer concludes with more tender moments between the two characters as they gradually fall in love.
Based on a webtoon Korean drama “Dare To Love Me” will tell a rom-com story of Shin Yun Bok (Kim Myung Soo), a disciple from Seongsan village (a village which still looks like it is in Joseon era). Shin Yun Bok is deeply rooted in Confucianism, which makes him all about values like wisdom, righteousness, faith and more. He’s kind to others but pretty strict when it comes to himself. But, he also like adventures, so he leaves his village and goes to Seoul to fulfill his dream of becoming a webtoon writer. There he meets Kim Hong Do (Lee Yoo Young).
Kim Hong Do is an art teacher with a fearless and straightforward personality. In a cutthroat design industry, she’s often disrespected, but she’s not one to back down from pursuing her dream of becoming a designer for a global luxury fashion brand.
“Dare to Love Me” is scheduled to air on May 11 at 10:10 p.m. KST and will be available with subtitles on streaming platforms Netflix and Viki.
